Dwan - Tipperary
« on: Saturday 15 April 06 18:24 BST (UK) »
I am looking for anybody who may have Catherine Dwan b1878 in Clonmel, Tipperary in their family tree.

Catherine came over to England to look after her sister's children, after she died in childbirth.  She ended up marrying her brother-in-law, William Coulthard and had four more children.

Her brothers and sisters were

Lorn, Patrick, Jack, James, Thomas, Maurice and Kathleen.

Her mam and dad were Thomas b1857 and Johanna Allen b1858

Catherine is my husband's gr grandmother.

Rosemary

Hello Rosemary

I'm sorry I don't have a Catherine Dwan but my great grandmother was Mary Dwan born about 1856 in Ballyveen, Tipperary.  She came out to Australia with her brother and sister in 1880 and her parents and five younger brothers came out in 1882.  Mary's parents were Patrick Dwan and Johanna Fogarthy and their children were:

Michael, Mary, Ellen, William, Patrick, James, John and Thomas.

If this is of any help, please let me know.'

Hi Dette

Sorry if I haven't got back before now, I just noticed this post, and can't remember answering you.  I checked the names I have for Dwan, and they don't match.  I'll keep your post, because you never know.  I may find something out that will connect them.  I haven't much to go on at the moment, the Ireland side anyway.

Thanks for answering

Rosemary

I have Dwane in my family tree too. Patrick married Margaret Walsh.
Their daughter Margaret Ellen is my great grandmother. Joseph and Bridget are also their children.
I'm still looking into this side but I think Dwaine,Dune Dwane is a common name.
