Thanks Oly,
The names I'm especially interested to find are -
Richard Ramsdale (b. 1791 Carlton)and his wifeRachel Ramsdale( b. 1803 Thornton).
Their daughter Jane (b.1823 Carlton) ,I think, married a John Brignall (b.Kirby) and lived Stokesley in 1860s.

Thanks Oly,
That Richard Ramsdale family looks probable - just need him to have a daughter Jane by the 1851 Carlton census!
Best wishes, Maggie.

Hello again

1851 census Stokesley HO107/2376 folio 91 page 3

John Brignall Head Mar 36 Common carrier b. Kirby Yorks
Jane wife 28 b. Carlton Yorks
John son 6 Scholar b. Stokesley
Richard son 2                "
Thomas son 1               "

If Jane was a Ramsdale I think more than likely this is the Jane, servant to the Banker in 1841, she may have been the daughter of Richard and Rachel, I am sure they would have had children older than John.

The enumerators in 1841 were supposed to round ages down to the nearest 0 or 5 but lots of mistakes were made, some just did not do it, some were rounded up.

Regards Oly

PS
The Marriage of John Brignall and Jane Ramsdale is registered at Stockton 2nd quarter 1843 volume 24 page 227
That would be worth a look.
