Hi Lynn

Only just seen your post.  I live in Grimsby and am going to my local library this week,  do you still need a census look up for George Groves on the 1871 census?

Hi Wobbly,

Yes that is the couple, I have their marriage cert. Jabez was Janes uncle and Sarah was her sister.

The trouble is I know George was born 1855-56 Bexley Heath - according to 1881 Census.  Went to look at GRO records and for that time they are either very faded or just totally unreadable, so dont know how to go further back to obtain a Birth Cert for George to find out who his parents were.   It is said he had a brother called John and one possibly called Henry, but cant find them for Bexley Heath.

Thanks for your reply and onfo

Best Wishes
Lynn
