Stevington P.R's Look up...Completed thanks
« on: Tuesday 18 April 06 15:59 BST (UK) »
HI....

Is anyone able to look at the records for Stevington for me please?

Looking for information on PARSLOW/PERSLOW/PARSLOWE family.

My grt grt grt grt grandfather was James Parslow he was married to Jane( maiden name unknown).
IGI has children for the couple from 1794 -1806 all in Stevington.
Is there a marriage for this couple in the village.

   Any help you can give...

              Thanks

                    Tazzie

Hi Tazzie

Stevington PRs have been extracted onto the IGI up to c1880, so if you can't find the marriage on the IGI it's unlikely to be in the parish register. The christenings for James' children were the earliest for the Parslow name in Stevington, implying that he was either  from elsewhere - there is a James christened in nearby Odell in 1771, or non-conformist.

A Jane Parselow was buried at Stevington on 29 Jan 1817 age 56, but I cannot see James buried. There was also a burial in Stevington of John on 24 March 1798, but I can't see who he was. A James Parselow married in Pavenham in 1817 - could this have been a quick remarriage?

But the fact that there's no marriage on the IGI in Beds worries me and makes me wonder if they were from further afield - as a long shot there's a marriage in Suffolk in 1793 which would fit very nicely with the baptism of Charlotte in 1794 (controlled extract, not an airy fairy member submission).

Are any of your ancestors straightforward?

Regards

David

Hi David...

In answer to the last part NO NO NO !!!
I am sure they are up there having a good laugh at me at the moment
Flaming Favell/Favels and now Parslow /Parslowe and all ???

I also saw the marriageat Tuddenham St MARY. Which Tuddenham I will have to look further...1=north of Ipswich 2= south of Mildenhall.
It just seemed so far away...but heh! who knows with my lot!
The James 1817 marriage to Sarah Grindon I took to be the son c 1800.
There are others on IGI in the Bedford area so I might pull them all off by family groups.

We went to Woburn yesterday and took photos of my grt grt grt grt grandparents house in Bedford St (the Colemans), so some progress made this week.

Thanks for the input it helps when someone else looks at these things it helps seperate what we see and what we WANT to see.

                 Best wishes

Susan....

Many thanks for that , I suppose its now even more likely to be Suffolk.
