Wilson/Mcintyre
« on: Thursday 20 April 06 13:13 BST (UK) »
How would I go about finding a marriage and birth cert. in Templemore.
My g.grandfather (Robert Wilson) was born in Templemore in 1863, or it says on his attestation papers. He joined the army in 1883 and was sent to Scotland either 83-85. He married Janet Slater in 1885 in Glasgow.
On their marriage cert. it states his fathers name as Thomas Wilson (flour miller) and his mother Mary McIntyre. I am finding it hard as no matter what site I go to I cannot put in both parents names, on one site I opened all the Roberts for that year and none had the right parentage.
What I found really strange is that on his next of kin on his army papers it said just Mary, Templemore.
I am finding this man really intriguing as after his marriage and birth of his two children he and his wife have disappeared, leaving their children with Janet's parents. I know from his army papers that he wasn't killed during any war, but cannot find him on any census's with his wife who had accompanied him during service.
Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated. And thanking people in advance.
Regards
Anner.

Birth registration in Ireland began in 1864 so you will not be able to get a birth certificate for someone born before that date.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi Mary,
Wow, thanks so much for that. Can you let me know who/where I would order the certificate from as I would love to have it also how much approx. do they cost. Thomas and Mary would have been my gg grand parents. It just ties in now with Roberts attestation papers as to next of kin, Mary, Templemore. That was all that was written so it would have been hard to have found her as I am sure there would have been more than one Mary living there. Funny what documents hold isnt it.
Again many thanks.
Anne.   :)
