1851 and 1861 look up please Hornton
« on: Monday 24 April 06 06:25 BST (UK) »
Hi All.
Could some kind person look up 1851 or 1861 census for John Gardner age about 45/55
with wife Jane age about 50/60 probably in the Hornton area.  In the 1841 census it states they were not born this county so trying to find out what county they were born.  Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Hi Sue  ;D

Could this be John and his family?

1851 census Farndon Hamlet, Woodford, Northants (HO107/1741 F257 P42)

John Gardner  Head  46  Miller  b. Oxfords, Horley
Jane  Wife  49  b. Warwicks, Kirby
Thomas  Son  22  Miller  b. Oxfords, Hornton
John  Son  17  at home  b.  "
William  Son  14  "  b. "
Henry  Son  10  "  b. "
Levi  Son  9  "  b. "
Mary Ann  Daur  7  "  b."

Let me know if it doesn't fit and I'll try again!

Best wishes

Hi Rowena,
Thank you for your lookup.  It looks like the right family having Thomas John William and Henry in the 1841 census. I guess they moved to northamptonshire so might try a 1861 census lookup over their. It just seems strange 1841 says not born in Oxford and 1851 says Oxford for him and Warwicks for her they do like to confuse you don't they.
Thanks again
