Australian Convict - Mary Swan
« on: Monday 24 April 06 08:20 BST (UK) »
Mary Swan was transported to Tasmania(Hobart) on board "Angelina" from Woolwich, 25/08/1844 marrying a George Pearce in Avoca ( Tas) 03/08/1847. Am awaiting information from Tasmanian Archives as to her crime etc., but if any one can help as to her English origins this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Alison. Don't know why I didn't think of it. Had a look and found 45 possibles.( probably the reason I didn't do it originally). Might be a difficult task to determine the right one without additional info which may turn up from local(Australian) sources. Will continue on the search.
I have the distinction of having a few convicts in the cupboard and it certainly is interesting checking on their past - thankfully it appears not to be a genetic inheritance to date.
