Searching for elusive granny!

Hello the World.
I'm desperately searching for any knowledge of my late grandmother. Her maiden name was Emily Davis(or Davies).She was born in, or on the outskirts of, Clitheroe, Lancashire, in the year 1917? She divulged little of her childhood, so finding clues to her birth remain difficult. Due to her amazing life-stories, I'm researching for a novel based partly on her life experiences. I've tried many BMD sites for answers, but to no avail. If anyone out there can help, I would be most grateful.

If you know her death date, you could get her death cert which should show her age to find her birth year, then go from there.

Just had a quick look at 1837online.com for births 1917, there was no Emily Davis in Lancashire and there was only one Emily Davies that might fit, born ref:
March quarter, Chorlton vol 8c page 1219
mother's maiden surname Grundy -- any good?
