John Spence in Cupar born 1798

I know it is probably a common name but I am looking for any church registers of John (middle name possibly Brown) Spence in the area of Cupar.

He moved to Darlington Durham and was married in1816 to Mary Ann Brown and worked as a gardener in a nursery.

His fathers name was William SPENCE and was a farm labourer.

I had come across those before on Scotlands Peoples. I was tending towards the Thomas Spence and Ann Blair before the fathers name, "William" was unearthed.

Inverkeithing seems to far at a time when they did not travel that far from home.

1798 in Cupar Scotland  is clearly listed in his 1951 census as place of birth. 1861 confirms year of birth but only lists Scotland
