Did William Lewis Newman marry in Scotland?
« on: Saturday 16 October 04 13:12 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone.  This is a longshot.  I have a very elusive ancestor called William Lewis Newman (born 1795 in London).  He is supposed to have joined the army and married his wife Caroline (some say Ferguson) in Scotland while on service there.  This was probably in the 1840s, but could have been 1830s.

I cannot discover anything about his army career.  He did return to London, as his last child (My great-grandmother) was born there in 1857.

If anyone comes across his marriage, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Thanks   Cheryl
