do any of you have a Margaret Younie, daughter of John, granddaughter of William and Janet marrying John Proctor, resulting in a son John Proctor (born 1803)?

I was told that Elspet, James and Alexander (1) Mellis all died in Rafford and are also buried at the Old Rafford Church.  I don't believe the Church or burial ground even exists now.  Thats basically all I know.

The old kirk is a ruin, but its kirkyard still exists.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Just browsing and saw this post. My mother Jean Ballantyne (1907-1990).....daughter of Rev Archibald Ballantyne who was minister of Rafford in early 20th Century talked of a Bella Younie. I think she may have been at school with her.

Hi Portia3, and welcome to Rootschat.
There is an Isabella Younie born Redhill, Rafford on 18th June 1906. Is this the one?

Well I think it probaly is as she would be the same age as my mother. I don't know anything else. Only that my mother talked often of her childhood in Rafford and life at the Manse and mentioned Bella's name. My parents are both buried in the Churchyard.

I visited Rafford last year. My gt gt gtgrandparents are buried there. Enclosed photo of the graveyard. We only found it by accident, as we had driven past it three times and it is hidden behind a wall. We spotted it from the new graveyard by the church.
