Hi nicky c,

Found the following cemetery transcription:

Dunboyne Cemetery, Malahide Twp.

211. White marble rectangular stone; willow motif.

In Memory of/Charles WEBB /Born Nov. 18, 1819 /Died Oct. 24, 1884/Aged/68 y'rs. 11 ms.

[Note:  This monument appears to have been inscribed in error.  Nicholas Carter Brown in his diary gives for 22 October 1883 that he went "to Charles Webbs funeral age 64 years." This would indicate that Charles WEBB probably died about 20 October 1883 instead of 1884 and likely died at age 63 years 11 months.  Several submissions give that Charles was christened at Downton, Wiltshire, England on 25 December 1818.  No Elgin County death registration has been located. - BCJ July 2005]

I couldn't spot records for Rachel, Samuel, or Catherine...

Here he is in the 1881 census - he must have remarried unless Rachel was also known as Elizabeth.

Edit: Oh - just noticed this guy is C of E, but the marriage records you have found are Methodist.  So maybe this isn't the right guy???  You can search the 1881 census yourself at www.familysearch.com .  Anyway, the rest of what I've found I think matches the above family, but may not be yours after all...

And this must be the son Samuel:

http://www.elginogs.ca/newsindexes/timesjournal/sttj1935aprthrujune.htm
St. Thomas Journal
8 May 1935
Page 7
c2    Died -   Samuel Webb, 71 years, May 7, husband of Mrs Susan Webb, nee Marsh; father of Mrs F. G. Viner, Edward & James Henry Webb; brother of Mrs Williamson, Thomas & John Webb

And from the cemeteries transcription list given in previous post:
Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Thomas Ontario
F 63C
Samuel WEBB/Husband of/Susan Marsh Webb/1863-1935
F 63D
Susan March WEBB/wife of/Samuel Webb/1864-1938

If you search through the Elgin OGS site you will find a few other references to the WEBB and MARSH families.

This looks like it certainly is from your family:

Looks like Samuel may have died young and Catherine remarried Mr. Barrett???

Hi nicky c,

I have looked carefully and can find no trace of either family in 1881, however I did find Rachel as an inmate of the Elgin Poorhouse in 1901.

Hi nicky c,

I have found a daughter of Samuel and Catherine for you.

#002962-1890 George H. POWELL, 27, Malahide, same, farmer, s/o Edwin & Mary Anne POWELL married Mary E. WEBB, 22, Aylmer, same, d/o Samuel & Catherine WEBB Wit: Jane SCOTT & Rebecca MAIN both of St. Thomas on 01 November 1890 at St. Thomas

I spent a long time looking through the marriage records from Ontario but at present this is the only child I have found of the two couples. THERE MUST BE MORE.

I'm trying to puzzle out this family as well as I have links to the Webbs somehow thru my Stembridge line from the UK > Ontario.

Anyhow, for what it is worth, apparently on the 1851 census of Malahide, Samuel Webb, 27, a shoemaker, single, b. in England, is found with his mother, Elizabeth Webb, 63, and brother Nathaniel, 26, also a shoemaker.

On the 1861 census Samuel is married to Catherine and his mother, Elizabeth, 74 is found with them as well as Charles.

Ada and Lilly Webb are buried at the Aylmer Cemetery and of course Charles is at the Dunboyne...

I don't have the actual images... this info was provided by a friend in 1996.

Hi Leah,

I find local libraries a good place to search, many of them being a treasure troves of family information, particularly if there is a local history archivist there. Here is the addy of the local library in Alymer, Ontario: http://www.libdex.com/country/canada/quebec/aylmer/library_28352.html

You may want to contact them to see what info they may be able to provide you. Hope this helps.
