Grandma
« on: Friday 12 May 06 21:04 BST (UK) »
Dear Experts
I've just found a photo in my Dad's garage of my gran.  At least I think it's a photo - it's pretending to be a drawing.  About 1918.  Were there photographers who did this sort of thing - I can't read the name of artist/photographer.
Thanks
Linda

Linda,
do you have a scan that you can post here?

If not have a look at my link  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,136704.0.html

more than happy to help.

If you have a scanner make sure the picture is scanned in colour and at as hig a resolution as you can.

regards

Harry

Hi Linda,
Yes, overpainted or overdrawn portraits were pretty popular around that time - you often see WW1 soldiers portraits done like this (at least you do here in Australia).  Photographers would have employed someone to do the work on commission.

Thanks very much Prue and Harry
I wondered if that was the case, but I'd never seen one before.  I've only just bought a scanner and haven't come to terms with it yet, but am going to get to grips with it in the next few days.  I'll post it as soon as I can.
Again, thanks
