George Percy Seymour - emigrant to Canada?
« on: Sunday 14 May 06 02:03 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out if George Percy Seymour (born 1879 in Bristol) and his wife Alice Maud Barratt (born 1879), who were married in the December quarter of 1900 in Bristol, Gloucester, England immigrated to Canada. In the 1901 census for Bristol, the couple is located at New Walls Road, Knowle. George is listed as a railway porter and Alice as a paper bag maker. It is beleived that the couple had 7 children (I do not know their names or dates of birth) and emigrated to Canada somewhere between 1905 & 1920. I have had a brief check of some passenger lists already and the only entry I found was a Percy Seymour who came through the Quebec ports in 1908 on the 'Corsican'. I could not find a matching entry for his wife however, and the age appeared incorrect. Any assistance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention - George Percy is supposed to have died on the 29.3.1937 - so if anyone can locate a matching death entry in Canada I would also greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

The 1911 Canadian census is available at automated genealogy. It's not completely indexed but it's still worth taking a look.  I took  a quick peek and noticed  some George Seymours and at least one Alice. Hope this link works

Hi Vivian,

The links worked - thank you for that. It was good to have an explore of those records. Unfortunetly, all the George & Alice Seymour references I found did not match up with each other, and the ages were not right either. I will have to revisit the site later when they are closer to completing it.

Thanks for your efforts.

There are several sites indexing the 1911 census. The best way to get to them all is to use the Census Comparison Chart for Canada at http://allcensusrecords.com/

Click on the link and scroll down to 1911. Then you can visit each of the sites given and search their names to see if your man is there
