AVEYARD family
« on: Monday 15 May 06 08:14 BST (UK) »
I'm still trying to find more on my AVEYARD's and would appreciate any help  regarding this family, did William die..remarry..who..what children were born to this union??..still can't find anything on the first marriage either!!

I have just received a "death certificate" which I think is the correct one..

1893 Pontefract district Knottingley at New Fryston Ferry Fryston!!.. for a William Aveyard [ age 51] his son John T  Aveyard was the informant and his address was 11 Duke Street Neldon or Heldon Lane Castleford..

Our William's [b 1843] marriage to Sarah nee ARMITAGE had ended around 1877..1881 as Sarah had another child in 1881 to a Thomas HARRISON..but a son also named William [ to Sarah & William ] was born in 1875 at Pontefract at Duke Street Pontefract!

Yonks Ago,
Duke Street does not now exist, it used to be off Wheldon Lane(now Wheldon Rd.) the houses in this area were demolished, the land bought by Hickson & Welch (Chemicals) The entrance to Duke St. became an entrance to the chemical works.
In the 1891 reply by tati, Robin Hood St. is about 15 minutes walk from the old Duke St.
Hope this helps

Yonks Ago,
In my humble opinion, they could well be related, families in this area tended to stay together if there was plenty of work.
BUT, I must stress, this is only my opinion, someone more axperienced than I may differ.
My own oldies travelled from Dover to Sunderland and back to Castleford
where they eventually settled (more or less)
