James Sharpe
« on: Tuesday 16 May 06 07:53 BST (UK) »
Hi- looking for place of marriage? for James Sharpe to Elizabeth Marsden. Assume it would be Christchurch as they had a son William Henry born there in 1864. William came to Wellington and married Mary Ann Cole Simmons.
Have found a probate notice for an Elizabeth Sharpe in Christchurch but nothing found for James.
Many thanks
Vicki

Hello Vicki,

You may already know this - William Henry Sharp (with no e) married Mary Anne Cole Simmons in 1896, Folio Number 1658.

Regards,

Hi Jean
Many thanks for that. I do have that information and plenty on Mary Ann Cole Simmons side. William Henry and Mary Ann are my great grandparents.
I do know that James was a cabinetmaker in Christchurch- that information was on William Henry's birth entry. I am reasonably certain that the Elizabeth Sharpe cemetery information I have relates to 'my' Elizabeth(she was listed as a widow at time of her death) but need confirmation. So I guess the search for James goes on.
I do appreciate you taking the time to get back to me.
Many thanks
