Birth look up

Would it be possible to do a lookup on a GRO from the York Register Office to find his parents?

This is what I found for birth of Durban K. Waite:
York Register Office, Yorkshire Birth Index, MIC/39/77

K stands for Kirby and he was born 1881. From other documents I have, his birth day is given as June 26, 1881 and the MIC I understand to be Micklegate.

As I understand it, you can't actually do look-ups at register offices - you have to order the certificate.  Just write to the York office with the details and ask for a copy.  Unfortunately it costs £7.00 but there's no other way.

Thank you for responding. I am new and meant this for the look-up section.

I know there are birth indexes in Ontario, Canada available on microfiche and think there might be equivalent indexes in England that are searchable without having to purchase a birth certificate. I will repost in the look-up section as there might be an annual index published. I searched the British Library, so I expect there might be something as I found the following:
