Cornish. Back to Early Tas
« on: Thursday 18 May 06 08:39 BST (UK) »
Hi All
My convict ancestor -
George Cornish [b.1813, d.1870] married to
convict
Mary nee McKenzie [b. 1815, d.1868]
had 3 certain children -
1) Elizabeth [b.1848,m1874 to Johan Gottlieb Petchke]
Would welcome any further info on her.
2)Joseph Henry [b.1850 ,m. 1875 to Annie Holmes, d.1938]
I have good info on him- Children etc.
3)James b.1855 d. 1858

There is possibility that there was another child named GEORGE probably between Joseph and James.

Would love to sort this out.
Can anyone look on Tas index or such?
Sue

Oh My Goodness me!!
The things you find when you ask the question!!

Well George's was a branch of the family that was not mentioned at all and was only turned up [under suspicion] by my cousin's recent research.  The relatives knew nothing of him.
Thank you all.  I shall dwell on this awhile and get back for more info if I need to.

Well found Genni!!
Sue

PS just found some excellent and informative Petzke digitised documents on NAA. Still learning.

Hi Jim,
What you see on this thead is about all I know on Johan Gottlieb Rynolt Petzke.
There are some digitised records at the National Archives site

http://www.naa.gov.au

for people by the name and some are relevant to my man [eg his sons' war histories] They were strongly around Kerang.  There seems to be a second branch in Nathalia.

There is a naturalisaion documentation for a man with similar name, but I am not sure he is my man.

I do not see the name Maria anywhere in his descendants and do not know his parents' names.

It may be significant that his first daughter in second marriage was Christina this is often for the mother.

Maybe you have more infrmation to throw light on the subject.
Regards, Sue
