Lloyd family - Dudleston, Ellesmere UPDATE
« on: Thursday 18 May 06 19:01 BST (UK) »
Hi, hope SKS can help with a parish look up.

Looking to trace the marriage of William Lloyd and Sarah ?

Also any additional info to confirm, their children on IGI christened in Dudleston, Shropshire.

Henry Lloyd Christened - 01 JAN 1828   Dudleston, Shropshire
Thomas Lloyd - Christened - 03 JUL 1829   Dudleston, Shropshire
Robert Lloyd - Christening:10 OCT 1831 Dudleston,
Mary Ann - Christening: 09 JUN 1833 Dudleston
Harriet - Christening: About 10 OCT 1834 Dudleston
John - Christening: 1840 Dudleston

In 1841 the family are in Chirk, Denbighshire all born out of county.  1851 think the family are back in Shropshire but not sure right family as Sarah is missing.

Many thanks if you can help

Cas

Hi Cas

As a 'Chirker', I might have some additional information - on Duddleston too. Could you tell me whereabouts in Chirk they were on the 1841 and rough ages of William and Sarah.

Still feeling 'jet lagged' but will do my best ;)

Hi Gadget, hope you enjoyed.

This is the info from census

1841 Ref HO107/1399/1 Folio 14 Page 15
Chirk Parish Township of Brynkinalt, Peuhash Cottages(this was difficult to read)
William Lloyd age 30 ag Lab not born in County
Sarah wife age 30 not born in county
Robert age 9 not of county
Mary 7 ditto
Harriett 6 "
John 1 "

This is the 1851 info but not sure it is them.  Cannot find them in Denbigh.  There is a poss for Harriet (my line) that is working nearby as FS, as she is not with family either.
1851 - HO107/1993 Folio 736 Page 12 (Shropshire)

I have Harriet married in 1857 and every census from there on.  She has her birthplace as Chirk or St Martins throughout census know her father is William from cert.

This was the best match, have been searching for ages, and I do think it is them, her daughter was called Sarah and others are named after her siblings.

Thanks so much Gadget, whenever you are rested and have time will be fine by me.

Many thanks

Cas  :)

Hi Cas

I can't see a mention of any cottage on the image that I looked at. It seems that they were in the Halton/Black Park area in 1841, Chirk Green  - just a 'do' on mine. He could have been working at one of about 3 farms in that area but most likely Halton or Brynkinallt.

Duddleston parish  does border Chirk and St Martins in the Ceiriog area, so they may very well have popped back.

Will investigate further.

Hi Cas

This is what I've found:

The 1851 certainly looks like the same family as the 1841 one, despite the slight age discrepancy of William. This seems likely because I've found the baptisms of Hannah and Eliza in Chirk:

Hannah Lloyd bpt. 9 Aug 1842, d/o William (waggoner) and Sarah living at  Garden Lodge, Brynkinallt

Eliza Lloyd bpt. 1st Sept. 1844 d/o William (labourer) and Sarah living at Brynkinallt Lodge

The GRO refs for these two - where you will be able to find Sarah's maiden name are:

Hannah: Oswestry RD, Sept Q 1844, vol 18, page 136

Eliza: Oswestry RD, Sept Q 1844, vol 18, page 147

Note Chirk was in the Oswestry RD.

I have found  possible marriagesof William to a Sarah Ann Hewitt in Ellesmere and to a Sarah Jones in Oswestry but it would be worth getting the birth certs (or just one) to find out first.

There is a possible William Lloyd bpt Selattyn on 11th April 1802 (born 7th April 1802) s/o William and Mary lloyd, Farmer, Ty Coch, Selattyn

Hope this helps

Hi all,

Just got back to this family, have had the birth cert of Hannah, which confirms her mother was Sarah nee Jones (knew I would get another Jones) also  details of the above baptism are the same on the cert.

Hannah Lloyd bpt. 9 Aug 1842, d/o William (waggoner) and Sarah living at  Garden Lodge, Brynkinallt

If anyone has parish records for the area or is visiting Shropshire record office, could they please look up this family for the baptisms for the children born in Duddleston, given above, to confirm any other details of parents.  Also the marriage of Sarah/William if possible please.

From IGI
SARAH JONES -  WILLIAM LLOYD
Marriage: 10 JUL 1827 Oswestry, Shropshire, England
Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the marriage date.
Source  M020713  1813 - 1827  M020713  1827 - 1837

Any help greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Cas  :)

Hi Cas, apreciate its an old post but im descended from Eliza Lloyd and still live Bronygarth area. Would be interested if you found any more. (new to Roots Chat) so please excuse any errors.
I do have a sale deed between the Barnes family and Frederick Myddleton West and it lists all tennants & maps of the Quinta Estate for 1866 I can see William Lloyd then lived at Tyn Y Pistyll just behind the Quinta Estate boundary wall. Shout if of interest.

regards

Hi James, have not looked into this family for a long while. I have all info on Harriet my line. On 1851 census mentioned above there is a poss that William was living next door to a brother Thomas.  I have no sub at mo as let lapse.

Baptism, Selattyn 25 Dec 1807
Thomas Lloyd son of William and Mary b. 20 December. Abode - Ty coch. William a farmer.

Curious to know what happened to Eliza?  Have you traced any other of her siblings?

Regards Cas
