Wedding Colour
« on: Saturday 20 May 06 09:19 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Everybody is so helpful on here, I didnt really want to ask for this one, but this is the full wedding photo that the earlier picture of my Gt Grandmother was taken from, and I was wondering if anybody could colour it for me?

Many Thanks

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Any chance of a higher resolution scan - and not in Greyscale either - I know its black and white but scanning it in colour adds to the detail available.
You can post up to 500kb.

Cheers

Hi Anthony,

Here is my attempt - as you know I always like to spot something I did not see before I started to colour the photo - in this case I think the man seated on the left has lost an arm - presume you knew that.

Makes a nice change for the photo to be outside - and in front of a car!

Cheers

Keith

Thanks for that, its very good puts a whole new dimension to it and no I hadnt noticed that. Now that might just change who we thought that was as we thought that was my grandfathers work colleague (or employer) who had brought the car along for the wedding and was probably the best man. My grandfather worked in Browns garage which was by the level crossing in Stanstead Abbotts, which as you know is next to Great Amwell!

Hi Anthony,

Must have a proper look at the map to find the level crossings!!

I have this photo of Stanstead Abbots on my website - not very good on cars - it's not the same one is it? Mine was taken in 1929 do you know when the marriage photo was?

Cheers

Thanks for that its cleaned up really well, Keith probably sleeps when he is playing bowls, which he appear to be doing all the time!

Keith

Its possible its the same car although my dad and I reckoned it was possibly an Austin taxi and the car in your picture looks more like a saloon, wedding was in 1926. Level crossing is about 400m (yds?) behind where the photo was taken, between the Lea and the railway. This scene is looking north towards Roydon Road and Cappel Lane at the end of the High Street.
