Link please to Brewery Arms Saltney
« on: Saturday 20 May 06 14:53 BST (UK) »
Hi
I don't know whats up with my computer the last few days but it refuses to find the pub and it's dead slow and stop.I have relative that was born there in 1914 and died there in 1972. His name was Thomas Evan Jones and his wife was Cathleen Cecilia. In regard to contacting the pub direct, i have put it off for years as i didn't want to bother them.I still haven't found the Jones connection to the pub though so want to contact the couple i know now reside there. Can someone please find me a link to The Brewery Arms ???

Hi Celia

The pub does not seem to have a website or any significant mention on the internet except fot its address in the "pubs list" which is Chester Road Saltney Flintshire. This may be out of date though.

Wonder if its changed its name lately, have you tried directory enquires? Might be worth enquireing if only to confirm its still there.

No wonder my computer couldn't find it Peter ;D
I think maybe the Couple that ran the pub may have moved on.Because they had their own website. With a photo of themselves and of the inside of the pub.So if they have moved, the site will have gone too. I would surprise me if the pub changed it's name after all these years, as far as i know it is very old. Its not long since i was on the site so it's only gone recently. I should have emailed them while i had the chance.Maybe i will try writing.Or anyone that uses or knows the pub might know something.

Yep thats it Sarah thank you,Sorry peter i thought it was website i must have been so happy to see the inside of the pub i never noticed it was an advert ::)
It was only when i went on the shortcut you sent and my arrow turned into i dart i realized it was under Darts league.
With the great success i had last year writing to a golf club on the off chance, they might have some info on one of ancestors who was one of the founders.I will now do the same again.I find it much better to write rather than email because it's more personnel so they are more likely to respond. I do give my email though so they have choice.I will let you know if anything happens.

Hi Erin
Haven't written the letter yet because i am not sure what to put,but the story is.On my Greatorex tree that goes from around 1970 back to 1790. On my Descendent's Chart i have a Thomas Evan Jones that Married one of my Greatorex line on grandma's side in 1937 Cathleen Cecilia Greatorex a decedent of one of  grandma Greatorex's brother.  Anyway it says that Thomas Evan Jones was born in 1914 The Brewery. He also died there in "The Brewery Arms on July 6th 1972.
From Overleigh (on line )Cemetery burial records of which i have 8 burials in two graves.I also have a Mary Jane Jones died 1920. Address The Brewery, Cyril Henry (a child) died 1918 The Brewery Hotel, Thomas Henry Jones (age 59) died Brewery Arms 1933,Thomas henry Jones (age 20Months), died 1940 Brewery Arms Chester Street. I don't know if number 36 Chester Street is the pub.I have an entry for another Jones died age 77  died 1918  Edward Archer Jones. Last one,  Evan Jones, Innkeeper, age 46 Parish, Saltney. Died 1883. There are a couple more but The Brewery not mentioned just Parish Holy Epiphany. Its obvious the Jones family were in the pub for some time.Unfortunately i have not been able to find any evidence of this in the way of records.I have had this info since 2001 and still don't have it. Sorry this is so long better to get the history in though ;D   So if you Erin or anyone else can help in anyway i would appreciated it.
