Strong/Maynard
« on: Wednesday 24 May 06 15:34 BST (UK) »
Hi,  I have found a listing on the LDS site for a marriage between John Strong and Mary Maynard for 3rd Oct 1853, but I can't find a match on Ancestry.co.uk to get the gro ref. Is there anywhere else I can get this information on the internet?

For future reference, it must have been on the GRO pages on ancestry.  You need to choose the Beta version - not the FreeBMD one.

Sorry, didn't know there was a beta version.....I only get the option of free bmd...is this because I am only enrolled on the ancestry.co.UK site or am I just looking in the totally wrong areas?

Anyone can get to the full version.  It is free on ancestry.co.uk but if you are paying a sub then you should certainly be able to access it.    It is called the "Beta" option and has images of the books that you would search if you went up to London.  The indexing is a bit wayward at times but with ingenuity you can beat that!
