Coventry Cemeteries
« on: Saturday 27 May 06 20:52 BST (UK) »
Hello
I have an address of Sherriff Avenue in Coventry where there was an infant death aged 3 days in 1945.  The baby's name was 'female' Harp or Warren.

Unfortunately we dont know where the baby was buried but we do know it was somewhere in Coventy.

I think Sherrif Avenue may be in Canley (in Coventry) but can anyone tell me the list of possible cemeteries in Coventry at that time where the burial may have taken place then Ill have to do the ring around with my limited info to find the grave.

We also believe it may be part of a larger unmarked collective grave/plot together with other infants if that may provide a pointer?
This was a catholic family.

Thanks, Gareth

Hi

Here is alink for warwickshire cemeteries

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WAR/deloyd/warcem.htm

The Coventry bereavement address is the one to write to and ask if they can search for the grave you are trying to locate. They have the records for the municaple cemeteries in coventry.

I am not sure if they make a charge for a search of this nature.

hope this is of help

It is possible that he was buried at Canley Crematorium, which does have a cemetery for burials next to it.  Unfortunately I don't know when it came into use but I know that burials were happening there in the 1960's.

The main Cemetery in Coventry is on the London Road, a big Victorian Cemetery designed by Sir Joseph Paxton.  There have been several areas added since 19th century.

Good luck
David
