MONEYPENNY, Mathew b1809
« on: Monday 29 May 06 14:08 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I'd like to renew my search for my G x 2 grandfather please.

Mathew Moneypenny was born in 1809 in NI but I have no further information of his family.  He moved to the Isle of Man where he married Elizabeth in 1830 and they later moved to Liverpool where he was a policeman.

I have Moneypenny history from the very first one in Scotland in approximately 1189 down to four brothers who were all born in the late 1500's and moved to Northern Ireland.  The next Moneypenny's I have are all from the 1700's onwards but still no sign on Mathew!

I have managed to trace some of the descendants of the four brothers, but I'm not able to make the connection to my 'Grandad', so if anyone can help, I'd be very, VERY grateful!

Thanks,
Lynne

Hi Audrey.

This is my Mathew; Ellen was one of his children and sister of my Grandad James.

Thanks for looking!

Hello Lynne,

F. W. Moneypenny, Belfast City Cashier is shown in the 1913 Telephone Directory which Mary Lennon has kindly put on to her website.

Hi Christopher

Thanks for remembering my search!

I'll keep a note of FW just in case I can find a connection.  I'm now thinking that Mathew was the nephew of Hyram Moneypenny but nothing concrete yet!

There is an Armagh website for BMDS try IFHFoundation

before 1830 the records are not straightforward, I would try the search engine for  Mary Lennon's street directory website ioe www.lennonwylie.co.uk,  where she has 10 Plus Moneypenny entries website. there are about 5 directories before 1830.

My last suggestion is
Try www.ancestryireland.com  A pay to view website

Wow Jim!  :o

Thank you for all that information.  I'm overwhelmed at the moment but I'm sure it will all help me towards finding my G Grandad's family.

I think I recognise some of the names but not many and I'm so grateful to you for taking the time out to write it all out for me.  I will visit the sites you have mentioned over my Christmas break and see what I can find there.

Thank you again for all your hard work!  ;D

Best wishes for christmas,

Lynne
