John Dobson, Edinburgh, 1818?
« on: Saturday 23 October 04 09:42 BST (UK) »
Hi - not sure if I can get a census (or anything else!) lookup here, but could anyone please help me with this as I seem to have hit the buffers!

I'm trying to trace my maternal ancestors, and have got as far as this bloke, but no records seem to confirm what the Mormons tell me! They say that he was a draper, born in Edinburgh in 1818 and married to Faith (b. 1820 in Scalby nr. Scarborough). In 1881 they are living in Scarborough at 5 Brookland Terrace.

He is the father of Edward (b. Edinburgh 1846?) , Charles (b. Scarborough 1855?) and Horatio Dobson (b. Hull 1862) (my great-grandfather)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Roger  ;)

Roger.

Just found your posting by searching for my home town Scarborough.  You also refer to the small village I live in near Scarborough, Scalby. Amazing!

I will see what I can find out and let you know.

Thanks for your pm.  I was unable to find anything out on the Dobsons as I explained in my pm reply but I will keep looking.  Can't find any record of Brookland Terrace.
