« on: Tuesday 06 June 06 13:02 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

Could some kind soul please look up James Edelsten McDonald in the 1891 and/or 1901 census returns? Details as follows:

James Edelsten McDonald b. 1854 Islington; m. Caroline Maud Nash 1883 (Caroline d. 1886); m. Gertrude Amelia Dixon 1889
Occupation: Australian merchant

Many thanks!
Kirsten

There is a 42-y-old Gertrude A Mcdonald b Hull in London.
A Fred aged 14y (b Bromley) may be with her.

Can't spot any likely others as yet.
Pauline

Okay, thanks Pauline! That's probably the wife; maybe James was travelling at the time of the census. I couldn't find his brother in the 1901 census either. They seem to be quite an elusive pair!

Thanks again,
Kirsten

I note your request was in 2006 but are you still interested in James Mcdonald and his mother Sarah. They were members of my local church in the late 19 century. I am writing a history of the church for that period so I have some info on them.
