Sir Francis Land

Hi am Looking for any information on Sir Francis Land. I have seen he was born around 1584 in Devon-Tiverton. and also died there. but I do not know when. he had a son Francis Land Jr and he was born in Devon in 1604 but he came to Virginia in 1630. if anyone can help I would really appricate it. I have seemed to hit a brick wall. you can email me at

 Have you checked out Ancestry world tree a couple of people on there also have the family.

  Enter Francis Land and U.S.A  if you enter England you do not get any hits..

Hi and ty for the replys. and the welcome to the board. I have looked in to the US Francis Land..I have some info on him but I am more looking into info on Sir Francis Land. but thank you.

I've looked in several books on the history of Tiverton. Have not found Sir Francis, but Lands both earlier and later than him. The family appear to have been Drapers and obviously fairly prominent in the town.
Kent - Piper, Longley, Colvin,Parks,Baker,Saitt
Essex - Wade, Shipp, Warren, Davies, Walford

hi I was happy to hear you found some Lands in your books. but i am sry I dont know what you mean by "Drapers"? maybe this could help me more.

Sorry I should have made it clearer. In this context they were cloth merchants, big business in those days. England clothed half Europe with woollen cloth and became rich in the process.
