1841 Census Erith, Kent
« on: Tuesday 13 June 06 14:20 BST (UK) »
I am trying to locate the family of Sarah Ann Palmer Gilbert born in Erith, Kent in 1829. The only information I have is that her mother's name was also Sarah. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Mary. IGI indicates that my Sarah was born in 1829 with Sarah as her mother. No father is indicated. Sarah the daughter of Thomas and Sarah was born in 1831 according to IGI. Thanks for looking this matter up.

Hi Manchester

When/where does your Sarah next turn up ie. marriage details/1851 census ???

Just wondering if there may be a clue as to where she's likely to be in 1841 :-\

Hi Casalguidi, Sarah Ann Palmer Gilbert married James Deller in 1850 in Lambeth. The 1851 census shows them living in Lambeth.

Hi Manchester

Are you still looking for her in 1841?  If so, do you have the marriage certificate which might give another clue or two ie. abode/names of witnesses only she's certainly not showing up easily ???

I have seen this name Sarah Ann Palmer Gilbert and am also at a loss to find a connection.
However, I have Ann Palmer Gilbert, the daughter of Moses and Jane Charlotte Gilbert (nee Coleman) of Erith. Ann Palmer Gilbert married Samuel Henry Perrin on 9th July 1863. Jane Charlotte Coleman was the daughter of Thomas Coleman and Jane Charlotte (no surname found). Their children were born variously at Rotherhithe, Surrey and at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. it is possible that Jane Charlotte was born Palmer but I have no proof whatsoever! the Gilberts were a long time Erith family. the connection with Norfolk may come from an association with both the Coleman and the Teasdel families of Great Yarmouth through Moses Gilbert. The Colemans are part of the large Norfolk family that includes the 'Mustard King', and the Teasdels were tradesmen and Shipowners.
