« on: Wednesday 14 June 06 08:03 BST (UK) »
My 3X great grand father William Savage died on the 12th April 1838 at Lewisham, Could anyone please tell me where he is likely to be buried, if I can find the location of his grave I would like to find if there are any more occupants of the said grave. also was there a street in Lewisham at that time named Coldbath Street
In anticipation Thank You. Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Coldbath Street still exists, and can be found on www/multimap.com.  It is in an area that I think of as Lewisham, but it would seem the political boundary wanders across Blackheath Hill at this point.  A 1935 photograph of the corner of nearby John Penn Street and Mordern Street (erroneously labelled John Penn and Coldbath) can be found on www.ideal-homes.org.uk.  I think this whole area was replaced after the War with council flats.

For burial places you could try contacting the Greenwich Heritage Centre 0208 854 2452 heritage.centre@greenwich.gov.uk or Lewisham Local Studies and Archives Centre 0208 297 0682 local.studies@lewisham.gov.uk.
