Can you read what his occupation is?
« on: Thursday 15 June 06 19:54 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Can anyone read what Charles Knight's Rank or profession is please?

If he is the correct father I have him in most census records -
'51 Private in Guards.
'61 Former Waterloo Pensioner from Chelsea.
'71 Labourer.
'81 Gardner.
'91 Retired Soldier.

If any of that helps in trying to decipher it!!??

Cheers

Keith

Hi Keith,

Have you got Maria & her father Charles (plus mother Jemima & 3 sisters) from the 1861 census?  Charles' profession is something totally different - equally unreadable but the last two words look like "from chicken"  ???

Al

Hi Al,

Yes thanks I have the '61 census which I read as above?!

Hi Casalguidi &  Arranroots

Thanks for that
Well Leather Dresser - that's a new one on me - no wonder I could not get that!!  :o

Still think I have the correct 2 people - it must have been another job Charles had after coming out of the army.

I presume the note at the side is just to make sure the alteration is OK?

Cheers

Keith
