Foot Regiment
« on: Friday 16 June 06 21:41 BST (UK) »
Hi

This is probably a bit hopeless but is there any way of tracing what regoiment of foot a person was with.  I know that my ancestor Duncan Graham was with a regiment of foot from his daughter's death certificate.

He married Agnes (Annie) Lyle 5 December 1789 in Kilmadock, Perth and then had three children that we have been able to find. Mary (b1790), John (b1792) and Catherine (b1796) all in Kilmaadock Perth.

Catherine died 14 February 1870 in Glasgow and it is on his death certificate that Duncan is listed as being in a regiment of foot.

Thanks

Hi Annie

Yes I do have a copy of the death certificate and no there is just a dash where the number should be. Have been trying to find the death certificates of the two other children that we know about
Mary chr 14 October 1790 Kilmadock,  Perth
John Graham b5 September 1792 chr 9 September 1792 Kilmadock,  Perth but no joy there either - very common names.

I guess I will just have to write it off as an impossibility.

Thanks

Carawa, we never do that - we just "put it on the back burner, for later"  ;D
