Thank you Dorothy and Irret for your help. I was beginning to think my mum had been telling me porkies and that my grandmother didn't really exist!! You've made me a very happy person. Thank you very much

Hi Folks,

Glad this is the right family.

Thomas Ford and Jane Gordon married in Torryburn, Fife, 15th July 1870 - you will find this on Scotlandspeople, and it should confirm their parents names.
Jane's birth certificate is also on scotlandspeople, and the family are on the 1871 census for Torryburn.

Hopefully Nell has found the right family on the 1881 census and will let you have this.  This should give you any more children born prior to this date.

Good luck with your research :)

Dorothy
