Cros

I have checked the only part of the 1851 census for Brighton that I have  which is HO107/ 1647 Folio's 1 - 364

Unfortunately there is no one with the name LIMPUS in that particular Section

But there is still the central part of Brighton (which I do not have) to be checked

Sorry

Croz

I know this request is ages old now  ;D but just incase you never did find the Limpus family in 1851-here they are.

Living in Peterborough Lane, Fulham HO107/1471 folio 67 page 22

Head John 31  b Putney dairyman employing 2 labourers
Wife Ann S 31  b Fulham
James D 3        b Brighton
Morland 11 months b Fulham

What great names  ;D makes a nice change from John Smith I suppose ;)

All the best

Carol

Thanks - yes I did find them ............ James D (for "Dainty") Limpus - then aged 3 is my Great Grandfather (and from my other post you will see I'm also tracking his wife Maria Atterwill) ....the name Dainty comes from his Grandmother (Hannah Dainty), the Morland name comes from John Limpus' wife  Ann Selina Morland who "ran away" with  and married John - apparently the gardener on the Morland "estate" ....about the only bit of scandal so far unearthed !
