« on: Sunday 18 June 06 22:21 BST (UK) »
Looking for information on John Taylor & Sarah McCaig (Sarah McKeague).  John was a farmer in Co Derry, possibly near Coleraine around 1820s.

Any help greatly appreciated.   :)

Hello L23,

What denomination were John Taylor and Sarah McCaig (McKeague)? Were they members of the Catholic faith, the Established Church (Anglicans or Church of Ireland) or possibly Presbyterians?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

L23- any idea what their children's names were? mgiht have something if I had a bit more to go on. There were Taylors about Coleraine but not many about Aghadowey although there were McKeagues in Aghadowey parish. Did the family stay in the area or have you any other information?
