Cemetery Look-Up Please/ Inverness
« on: Monday 19 June 06 22:56 BST (UK) »
Would like to find where Walter Ross is buried. The last info we have on him, is the 1861 Inverness Petty Census. On the census it has his age being 55 a farmer.
Wife, Catherine.
Children: Isabella, Charles, William, Walter, James,.
In 1862 they had a daughter, Margaret.
In 1871 Catherine is a widow.

Also would like to know where Catherine Ross ( wife of Walter ) is buried. She was a tenant on the Brackley  Farm. Believe she died about 1900/1901.

Thanks   Aley

but - you should be able to get these details from scotlandspeople website, i used the free search and came up with:

sp 1 match death records for walter ross petty inverness in 1862 aged 58 years.

Thank you for the info.

It might be the right Walter Ross. Even though his age is different from the 1862 census.  (Not by much )
I had come across some family members in other census, in each census year, they had down different ages. Had one put down that she was born in the same year as her husband.  Her birth record had her being born eight years before.

I am looking for the headstone of a Donald McLennan, a "Flesher" who died at Beauly (Lower Bridgend) on 21 May 1885. He doesn't seem to have a headstone in the Beauly/Kilmorack area - might he have been buried at one of the Inverness cemeteries or did bodies not get taken that far?

Might the burials for this area be avaialble electronically somewhere? Or even in a book?

Bruce

McLennan (Kilmorack, Inverness-shire and (eastern) Ross-shire), Kerr (Easter Leadburn, Peeblesshire)

Thank you,Thank you, ghostwhisperer

For the picture of the headstone and the information written on it. It sure helps fill in the blanks.
Now we the death date for Elizabeth Falconer, Walter Ross, Catherine McDonald and James Ross.

And thank you Forguette,

For the information on Catherine McDonald and the Moray Library Index might come in handy down the road.
