Thank you, I thought it might help me find William on the IGI but no luck, there are too many William Jones' in the Wellington area.

Thanks again

One thing we know is that Ann's maiden name thanks to mum-in-law staying with them in 1861.

The IGI has:
Marriage William Jones - Ann Bromley
13 June 1837   Buildwas, Shropshire

Just a few days before civil registration started - what a shame!!

Here you are Katie:

From Buildwas parish register -

William Jones of the parish of Marwood in the parish of Madeley, Bachelor, and Anne Bromley, Spinster of the parish of Marwood of Madeley were married in this Church by Licence this 13th Day of June, in the year eighteeen thirty seven by me John Bartlett, Minister.

This marriage was solemnized between us: William Jones & Anne Bromley (both signed)

In the presence of: John Jones & Elizabeth Harper.

Unfortunately, there are no father's names recorded (as it's pre civil registration it's not like the "normal" marriage certificate :().  Maybe John Jones, the witness, was William's father ??? or brother ???
