Hi stjoseph,

Thank you very much for the offer of looking up a census for me.  I have since been on ScotlandsPeople after I didn't get an reply after I  posted that message and found the census information I needed, the problem is I never deleted the post!!  sorry.
I don't know how to delete a post, maybe you can tell me how to do it??

By the way are you from Dundee, your name is also a school here in Dundee, which by the way I attended.  Thank you anyway for your kind offer.

Hi again,

I only went to St.Josephs for about just over a year, it was the primary school across from the Whitehall theatre. When we moved to new houses outside the centre of Dundee my mother wouldn't let me travel on my own to St Josephs as I was only six years old.

My husband however was at the primary and followed on to the older boys school in Blackness Road Dundee, he was there until moving to secondary school.
All this is many, many years ago!!

Elizabeth.

we all moved as well to Ardler and got on two buses every day to go to school.  I remember when it was a picture house called the State.

Hi again,

Ah the State cinema, that must have been a long time ago I remember the name but couldn't remember it was the cinema before it was called the Whitehall Theatre though.

I attended St. Michaels school in Graham Street, my husband was there too but I didn't know him at school, we met later at Robbies dancing in the Hawkhill.

I used to go to the Princes cinema on Saturday morning, it was on the Hawkhill.

Me again,

My hubby said he went to the  State Cinema before it became the Whitehall Theatre later on, I didn't know that but he lived off the Hawkhill area so he did know the area better than me.  He later moved to Fintry with his parents and 3 brothers.
