Bartholomew COUGHLAN, Cork
« on: Wednesday 21 June 06 20:07 BST (UK) »
The above shows in the 1881 UK Census b. approx 1929 Cork Ireland.

His wife was Catherine Coughlan b. approx 1835 Cork Ireland.

Two children Mary (1866 London) and William (1869 London).

Anything would be useful.  If Coughlan's were in Co Cork, which town?

If they were in Cork city, which part?

Truly, I don't know where to start!

Sanqhar:
I did a little digging around and came up with an debtor/insolvency case in 1845. Here is link, just scroll down to Coughlan.   http://www.corkancestors.com/Debtors1.htm

I also found a Coughlan family in the 1851 census in the townland of Downing, Parish of Kilcrumper. There is an 8 year old Bartholomew but this can't be your man, of course. He might be a nephew or otherwise related. http://www.ginnisw.com/1851.htm

Hope this helps some.

Pat

Thanks for this.

I am visiting the ROI for the first time in early August and just wanted to be able to drive around some part of Cork to get the "feel".
