NOBLE(S) of Sharnbrook/Bletsoe
« on: Thursday 22 June 06 11:48 BST (UK) »
... a bit further forward but ---

I'm looking for Mary Nobles born about 1795 of Sharnbrook - who married Richard Partridge on 3rd June 1818 at Bletsoe. Having found the marriage entry to confirm her name, I cannot find a baptism of Mary Nobles in 1795 in the Sharnbrook PR. There are other entries of Noble(s) for Sharnbrook.

While the marriage entry did not say widow it did not say spinster either, Could it be possible for Mary ? to have married a male Nobles who then died prior to 1818.

Can you look at NBI for any dead Noblemen prior to 1818

thanks John

Good thinking John, but nothing at all in Beds I'm afraid.

She's  bit of a mystery! I've had a look at Sharnbrook for a Mary baptised 1795 +/- 5 and there's nothing even vaguely resembling Noble. There was a William and Mary Noble at that time in Sharnbrook who seemed to specialise in late baptisms of their children. I wonder if Mary was theirs and was even later than the rest of them - have you checked 1812-1818 to see if there is any sign of her?

Are any of yours straightforward?

All the best

David

thanks for looking David - seems I'll have to go back to Archives for another look - this time for a male Nobles marrying a Mary - or as you suggest a late baptism of a Mary Nobles.

I pretty sure about year, as the 1851 census has her born1795 Sharnbrook, & 1841 born in 1796. She died in Dec qtr 1857 so no more clues.

regards John

Now looking for a Leah Nobles in Sharnbrook - born around 1818 +/- few years - must be linked to Richard's wife's family

Richard & Mary P had daughter Elizabeth P who married Robert Inskipp on 04/02/1840 - one of the witnesses (most likely bridesmaid) was Leah Nobles

she may be Leah ?? who married a ?? Nobles of course.

Went to 1841 expecting to find a Leah Nobles - but no !
Why ? - she married John Robinson on 12/JUL/1840 at Milton Ernest, her father listed as Richard Nobles. The 1841 census now finds her born 1816, (& 1851 says she's born Bletsoe)

please can someone find a link between Richard & Mary Nobles ? if brother & sister - then Elizabeth P & Leah N are cousins.

In 1803 National Defence there is 50 year old Wm NOBLES in Sharnbrook - he was a 50 year old tinker.

In Bletsoe in 1803, labourer Benjamin NOBLE had 1 child still under 10 [Class 3 so under 30] & labourer Thomas NOBLES aged 50.

Back in 1760 there is a Richard NOBLE/S listed both on the Harrold Company Militia Company from Wellingborough [serving for Thos MANBY of Harrold].

And again, he is on he list of Grenadiers, Richard NOBLE from Wellingorough aged 22 & height 5 foot 6 inches.
