Please and Barton, please and thank you.
« on: Monday 26 June 06 11:14 BST (UK) »
George Jacobs Please, born Wootten in 1858, married Elizabeth Mary Barton, born Seaview 1857. She was the daughter of George Robert Barton 1823-1861, and Betsey Shiner, 1823-1862.

George Please and Elizabeth Mary had children, Arthur Joseph, 1884-?. Emily Maude, 1893-?, Albert Victor George, 1897-?, and Maggie Elizabeth, 1900-?. Elizabeth Mary died (Lizzy M PLEASE registered at Brentford 3a 274 march qtr 1935 aged 77 ).

George Jacobs Please then married Elizabeth Sarah Barton, born Kessingland Suffolk, registered Dec Q 1936. She was Elizabeth Mary's niece. She had been in service and presumably lived with her Aunt and Uncle prior to the Aunt's death. I cannot find any residence for her between 1901 and 1936 as yet, so this is conjecture.

George Jacobs Please died in 1939 in Blean, Kent. Elizabeth Sarah Please (Barton), my G Aunt Lisbeth, died in 1960 at Bromley. There were no children and my family had no knowledge of the original Please children.
I understand that by 1931 it was legal to marry your niece, though this relationship was by marriage.
Obviously this was not to Elizabeth the younger's,  financial benefit as she spent the rest of her life living with her sister and brother in law at Herne Bay, Kent.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the Please family, please. I do have census and other data for the Barton families.
By the way, it's overwhelming trying to search any site, anywhere, for a member of the Please family. Everyone is so polite in their listings, there are millions of responses! ::) ::)

Probably - the maiden name of George's mother is shown as Jacobs!

I have had a look in 1841 for a Sarah Jacobs in Wimborne and there are 2  :-\

One age 15 a female servant, and one age 13 with the family found above.

Goodness, what a lot of information, thank you both very much.
Interesting that all of the daughters at home in 1861, were somewhere else ten years later, aged 15-20. other than the youngest, Emily.
Thank you for the possible 'Jacobs connection' next door in 1851.
Gives me lots to chase up, well try to anyway!
Once again, appreciate so much the help forum members give,
Sandra  :)
