Looking for a family
« on: Tuesday 27 June 06 21:30 BST (UK) »
This family is in 1881 census -

Edwin J Corbett 26 Gun Case Maker Birmingham
Annie 26 Birmingham
Claude E 3 Birmingham
Pauline C 5mo London

4 Bedford Court, London

Can anyone find anything out about this family after 1881 (just spent 2 hours looking and found nothing!)? Also I'm hoping that Annie is nee Osborn but I cant find a marriage (parents hopefully Henry A and Hannah Osborn - the widowed Hannah is further down the page with son William, in 1881 census)

Thanks for any help
Catherine  :)

Have you found a complementary birth record for Claude?

The only one I found was b Staffs Darlaston in 1878 (1901 census  & matching freebmd entry)

Pauline

Further to Pauline's find (and I really don't want to confuse the issue ;D), I was wondering about a Claude Edwin KESTERTON born Aston March quarter 1878 ref. 6d 466 and a Pauline Catherine A KESTERTON born Hoborn district December quarter 1880 ref. 1b 673 (died December quarter 1903 Kingston, Surrey ref. 2a 239) ???

I think Pauline KESTERTON is in Thames Ditton for the 1901 census RG13/669 folio 61 page 21 if it helps confirm or eliminate

Thanks for replying everyone. If the Kesterton family and marriage is the right one, it looks like she is not my Annie  :-\  Wonder why they're down as Corbett in 1881! Must have had a deaf enumerator (I had "Carters" enumerated as "Frost" in one of the earlier censuses so I shouldn't be surprised at total name changes)  :)

That still leaves me with a missing Annie S Osborn/e (b.c1858 Birmingham) and also her sister Caroline (b.c1855 Birmingham) Last seen on 1871 census in Sheepcote Street, Ladywood, Birmingham. Back to the search then

Thanks again, thought I was just losing it and she was right under my nose  :)

Regards
Catherine

Annie S? How about Annie Smith Osborn m. in Holborn Sep 1878 quarter possibly to Henry John Maryon.  I find the other two listed possibles, George Capon, and Thirza Papworth Leet, together in 1881 which makes this (the only Annie with head of household Henry, despite the change in his middle name) possibly yours:

Henry W. Maryon, 29, b. Shelly Ongar, Essex, House Painter
Annie, 22, b. Birmingham
Henry, 1, b. Holborn

Annie Smith Maryon d. Mar 1892 quarter (freebmd) and Henry Maryon with children Harry, 15, and Emily, 13, I think is the one b. 'Higher Ongar' living in Morden Entire, Surrey, in 1901.
