Folkestone Census 1901
« on: Thursday 12 January 06 19:38 GMT (UK) »
My grandparents, Charles and Ada Roots, married in 1915 and honeymooned in Folkestone. I have found an address of a Mrs C Roots, 24, Russell Road, Rafdnor Park, Folkestone and am struggling to fit this one into my family tree - does anyone have this lady in their research? Charles and Ada lived in Walthamstow but the Roots line came from essex.
many thanks!
Caroline

I am trying to find out who was living at 24 Russell Road, radnor Park, Folkestone in 1915 - I guess the nearest i am going to come is to check the 1901 Census - can anyone help please by verifying who was at this address in 1901 as my starting point!
Many thanks
Caroline

It doesn't appear to be listed in the addresses at the GR/ 1901 site.
I'd point you towards electoral rolls if anything.

Folkestone Library have street directories from the 1870s through to the 1970s and although the war years may be a bit sketchy before and after should be ok ................. http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/e&l/artslib/openingtimes/home.html

Thank you all so very much! My grandparents appeared to have spent their honeymoon at this address and I am really intrigued as to the connection!
All your help really appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Caroline  :D

I checked the directories for 1914, 15 and 16 and Richard Wood was listed at 24 Russell Road in all three.

I tried to check the Electoral Roll too but they only had them from 1920 onwards.

If you pm me your e-mail I'll send you the photo of the house.
