An immediate alarm was given and the thieves decamped. - On Monday night Mr POWELL, garde!
ner, of this city, was robbed near Union Place of some money, the produce of debts which he had been collecting. he had in his way home taken refreshment at a public-house near the city, and there stated what had been the object of his journey, and its success. Four persons were present, and two of them went out almost immediately, and there is very little doubt that they were the persons who attacked Mr Powell. - A house, near St Stephen's Churchyard, inhabited by one of the Society of Friends, was attempted to be robbed on Tuesday evening, but a person passing by at the time went into an adjoining yard, and discovered the thieves in the act of entering the dwelling. he immediately gave an alarm, and the villains made a precipitate retreat without obtaining their expected booty. - On Tuesday evening two persons broke into a poor woman's house in the Buff Coat-lane, and after knocking the woman down, they took a watch from the mantle-piece - one man is apprehended. - Some pe!

Either an accidental disturbance or the consequent terror attendant on guilt are supposed to be the cause of them not taking everything with them, of which it appeared they had got undisturbed possesssion.
On Friday se'nnight, about nine at night, as Mrs ARNOLD, of St Benedict's was going to a neighbours, a man stole a shawl from off her back and escaped.
On Monday night last, about eleven o'clock, Mr ALCOCK, sen. baker, of this city, was robbed of his watch, near Gurney's Bank, by a fellow who pushed against him. Mr Alcock did not discover it till he got home, when it was too late to pursue the villain.
