I can see no-one to match her in either '81 or '01.

How have you arrived at date/place of birth?

Hi Pat  ;D

Per your topic:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,164779.msg774374.html#msg774374

Wasn't  Rachel Sarah REEVES who married WEBSTER,  born Woolwich Kent, not Greenwich....?

Sorry, I'm a wee bit confused,
Rachel Sarah ROWE married James REEVES, and their daughter was Rachel Sarah REEVES who married William WEBSTER - is that right?  Was it Rachel REEVES nee ROWE who died 1894 Rochford? And your absolutely certain Rachel Sarah REEVES the daughter, married WEBSTER?

Cheers
Ambly

Hi Ambly & Pauline:

Yikes! I transcribed wrong info on Rachel, she was born Woolwich, Kent, this info from the 1871 census RG10 570 folio 133

I am not absolutely certain she married a Webster,( thinking it was Greenwich I have probably assumbed it was to Webster) Other names on Dec 1889 were Henry Jacobs or a Robert Thomson so I was trying to find a census to confirm the Webster marriage - which is wrong.

Will look at Jacobs or Thomson.

Thanks

Pat

Hi Pat

For reference then, this is the 1881 Census
1881 - where Rachel Sarah REEVES nee ROWE is now wih her REEVES husband & children in Hamlet, London:
Head: James REEVES age 35 (YOB1846) Deptford, Kent,
Wife: Rachel REEVES age 32 (YOB 1849) Wigbrough, Essex,
Dau: Rachel REEVES age 13 (YOB 1868) Woolwich, Kent, England
Son: Henry REEVES age 6 (YOB 1875)Mile End, Middlesex, England
Dau: Emily REEVES age 4 (YOB 1877)Old Ford, Middlesex, England

Rachel Sarah REEVES (the daughter above in 1881) married not WEBSTER, but Henry JACOBS in Dec Qtr 1889 WEst Ham. I know this because in the 1891 Census - Rachel JACOBS has lately given birth to her first child and her own mother Rachel S REEVE is in attendance  ;D  ;D

Here is the 1891 & 1901 Census for the new JACOBS family:

1891 - St Andrew and St George, Holborn, London
Ecclesiastical parish: St George the Martyr
Ref: : RG12/218, Folio 102, page 19
Registration district: Holborn
35 Earl Street (a tenement)
Head: Henry JACOBS age 23, Bookbinder, b Bethnal Green, London
Wife: Rachael S. JACOBS age 23, b Woolwich, London
Dau: Violet R JACOBS age 1 month. b Bloomsbury London
Relative: Rachael S REEVE age 42, b Salcott Essex
Note: Ancestry have transcribed the Relative as "Rachel G RACER" making her a bit hard to find on her own account!  but if one looks at the image it is actually looks like  "Rachael S REECE" however, on magnification,  the surname "C" is a closed & squeezed up "V". I have no doubt this is your family.  Ancestry have also transcribed Violet's birthplace as  "Polooarsbury" so they weren't having a good day  ::).
Son-In-Law Henry may have provided the information for the Census and was a bit out on his mother-in-law's place of birth.

And here is the next little surprise - in 1901 Rachel & Henry JACOBS are actually living in the same houshold as her her father James REEVES and her sisters Emily & Eleanor whom Valda already found!
1901 - Walthamstow, Essex
Ecclesiastical parish: St Michael and All Angels
RD: West Ham, Ref: : RG13/1633 , Folio 78, page 6
Registration district: West Ham
Oxford Villa 60 Blackhorse Road
//
Head: James REEVES Widower, 52, b Deptford, Kent, Commercial Traveller
Dau: Emily REEVES  single, 24, b Old Ford, London
Dau: Elenor REEVES single, 19, b Mile End, London
/
Head: Henry JACOBS, 33, Miscalleaneou Bookbinder (worker) b Bethnal G, London
Wife: Rachel JACOBS, 32, b Woolwich Kent
Dau: Violet R JACOBS, 10, b Bloomsbury London
Son:  Henry J JACOBS, 3, b Walthamstow Essex
//

// denotes beiginning and end of the dwelling house at Nr 60.
/ denotes the seperation of the "households" within the dwelling.

This now leaves to find:
1891 Census: children of Rachel S REEVES nee ROWE & James REEVES who are not with either parent in that Census.
Son Henry REEVES b 1875 (Mile End London per 1881 OR Southend Essex per 1901)
Dau: Emily REEVES b  1877 (Old Ford London per 1881 and 1901)
Dau Eleanor REEVES b 1882 (Mile End London per 1901)
(*and are we thinking son James b 1871 may have died before 1881?)

Cheers

Oh Ambly :D

I shouldn't go away for a day - I am just checking this site and am amazed by what you have found.  I have already responded on the J.R. Reeves site.

Thank you for all the amazing info you have provided - lots to chew on!

Henry Reeves 1875 was my great grandfather who married Florence Mary Sutherden.  They travelled back and forth from Canada several times and we are trying to piece the puzzle of who they went back to and lived with in the early 1900's to 1920's.

What a puzzle life is -

Thanks so very much again

Pat  ;D
