I hope this is the county, I think Hay-on-Wye comes under Brecon
I'm looking for any information about my GGrandfather's family in Hay-on-wye.
He was Frederick G Wall and was born about 1879 in Eynsham Oxfordshire. He's on the 1901 census still in Eynsham working in a pub. He married his wife Mary Matilda (Stevens) in West Bromwich in 1905. Then my grandfather (Douglas Leslie Arthur) was born in Hay in 1917. He also two other children who's births I know, Mildred M 1Q 1912 and Frederick D C 1Q 1913 both in Hay. Frederick G was recorded as "Driver R.F.A and hotel porter" on Douglas' birth certificate. Address was "The Green" (I think I'll check later).
I'm trying to work out what it was that made him move to Hay? I was hoping there might be an article in the local paper?
Apparently Frederick lived through the war and started a coal business in Hay later.
Hope this is enough info. Any help is really appreciated.
