1891, 1901 - Easington, Patrington MARY AGNES BIRD Completed, thanks

Hi

Could someone please help me here? I think this is a bit of a toughie, and being a lady, the usual 'possibly married' gets chucked into the equation! 

1873 birth registered June quarter, Stockton, volume 10a page 53, second child of John and Sarah Bird (nee Snaith)
1881 census: living in South Church Side, Easington in Patrington (RG11/4786 Folio: 15 Page: 9)
1891 census:
1895 marriage registered June quarter, Easington, volume 9d page 493 - NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE - SPECULATION!
1901 census:

As you can see, it's not a lot to go on.

ANY help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

If the marriage is correct [big if], then she marries John Arthur Crawford.

In 1901, John A Crawford & wife Agnes are in Hessle

RG 13/ 4478 folio 144 pg 31

John A Crawford; head; mar; 32; warehouseman; Yorks, Hull
Agnes do; wife; mar; 28; North Yorks, Middlesbrough
Arthur J do; son; 2; Yorks, Hull

Having trouble finding anyone in 1891

Oops - yes, Sandra. THAT was the marriage I had plumped for.

I forgot to mention that I had found the name John Arthur Crawford. 

I've tried looking for deaths, but she doesn't show up, and as I can't find her as Mary Bird on any census in 1891 and 1901 I had come to the conclusion that she must have wed, and as you've seen, that's the only one that seems to fit.

I know it's a BIG 'if', but it's all I've got to go on.

If she still prefers Agnes to Mary in 1891 she is a servant in the house of Robert Wreathall(Farmer) and family.

She is single, 18, born Middlesborough and a domestic servant living at the Farm House Winestead Yorkshire

It would be nice if John Crawford was a servant there as well but he isn't!

If it helps to make your mind up I can't spot Agnes Bird born 1873 born Middlesborough on the 1881 census

......... so she may be your girl

If you are really desperate you could send for Arthur's birth cert

Don't think I need to Tricia - the more I think about this, the more correct it seems.

• There's no Agnes Bird born 1873 on the 1881 census, but there IS a Mary Agnes Bird
• There are no Mary Agnes Birds to be found after 1881
• There's an Agnes Bird in 1891, right age, right place
• A Mary Agnes Bird DEFINITELY marries a John Arthur Crawford in 1895
• An Agnes, born Middlesbrough and right age, appears married to John A. Crawford in the 1901 census - and they live in Hessle (near Hull/Patrington)

Ergo - that's my girl! Dangerous assumption, I know, but I'm sure that it will be right!
