Help with Family Tree Maker 2006
« on: Friday 07 July 06 20:38 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to create a seperate .FTW file for my husbands tree which is included in my own tree in FTM 2006, but the problem I am having in exporting his ancestors to a .GED file, importing it back again into FTM, but this process for some reason does not include all siblings from GrGr Grandparents etc.

Please could someone let me know where I might be going wrong?  I would like all the individuals associated with my husbands family to be set up on a separate file - how do I go about doing this  ???

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Sally

Hi Sally

Have you tried the Help Centre on the FTM website?

Best wishes

Make a report, starting from the oldest individual in the "stream" that leads to your husband.

Check that it's all there.

Then go to File | Export file, and select Copy/Export individuals etc etc - and select that you want a (an?) .ftw file made, please.

The originals will remain in your first file. The folk you chose will be replicated in the second file.
