Thomas Ward, Malden, Essex
« on: Saturday 08 July 06 15:54 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have easy access to the parish records for Malden, Essex please.

Looking for baptism of Thomas Ward c 1793 to 1797.  Thomas married a Lydia Kinsey/Kensey in Widford, Herts in 1820 but 61 census suggests birth in Maldon, Essex.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you so, so much for your prompt reply.  Fits so well as Thomas and Lydia had children, Thomas, John, William and James so the names follow through.

Do you know if "Hartford Militia" and "quartered in this town" have anything to do with Essex or would I be right in perhaps supposing that William's roots are in Herts and he was serving in the Hertfordshire Militia.  If so, I am quite excited as I have been fully aware of the militia and it would be so great to find a serving militia man.

Will do some more searching.

Thanks again

Can anyone add anything further to cep's most helpful response in July regarding this query.

I have checked some of the Herts militia records but need to do some further research on these as I can only find a William Ward from Widford serving in 1792 at present which does not tally with the baptism of the twins.

I think William and Elizabeth were probably married in Widford in 1794, however, I can find no further siblings born in Herts and wondered if cep or some other kind sole might check the baptisms at St Peters, Maldon again to see if they can find any further children born after the twins.  Can't find anything on the IGI.

Perhaps Elizabeth died during or shortly after childbirth but I can check this when I get the opportunity from the National Burials Index.

Any assistance again greatly appreciated
