1851 census Wold Newton,Kilham, Middlesborough
« on: Wednesday 27 October 04 21:37 BST (UK) »

Am looking for Abbey.......Edward in particular, also Dixon
Francis born prior 1830.

James Abbey and Sarah Dixon married in 1871 children of the above seem to be somewhat confused as to who was born where in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. Different on each one. Hopefully by looking for  their parents I might find out.!!

Hi Waterfall

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Morning Ticker,

thats nice you have got in touch. No progress with this lot.
Not only are they confused so must I be.!! Wrong christian name so will start again.

William Abbey son of Edward Abbey married Sarah Dixon daughter of Francis Dixon 21st May 1871 at Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham. (I have posted a request for the 1871 census Stranton on a couple of sites including Roots Web but no joy with that). From the census I have the following and I haven't a clue as to where they were born.

1881  22 Alice Street, Stranton.

William Abbey Head  29  bn Wardnewton, York.
Sarah Abbey   Wife    28 bn Kilham, York.
William Abbey  Son       9 bn West Hartlepool. Durham
Robert Abbey   Son       6 bn          "                     "
Walter Abbey   Son       3 bn          "                     "

1891 30 Cumberland Street, Stranton.

William Abbey  Head    40  bn  Lincoln, Lincs
Sarah Abbey    Wife     39  bn  Yorks, Middlesborough.
William Abbey   Son      19  bn  Durham, West Hartlepool.
Robert Abbey    Son      16  bn    "                   "
Mary Jane Abbey Dau     9   bn     "                   "
Arthur Abbey       Son      5  bn    "                    "
Ada Abbey           Dau      3  bn     "                   "

1901 Albert Street, West Hartlepool

William Abbey Head 49 bn  Lincs Kilham
Sarah Abbey   Wife  48 bn  Yorks Framton
Mary J Abbey   Dau   19 bn Durham West H Pool
Arthur Abbey   Son   16 bn           "         "
Ada Abbey       Dau   13 bn           "         "
Albert Abbey    Son   10 bn           "          "

From that you will see William and Sarah swop places as to who was born where and I cannot make head or tail of it. I did put a request for Edward Abbey and son William on a site for 1851 in Frampton, Lincs. Did get a response but neither were there. I need to rethink all this I suspect.
Is it possible there is a Wardnewton district in York?
Maybe I should try for Francis Dixon in 1851 Frampton, Lincs. I really would appreciate any suggestions.

Many thanks, Waterfall
