MARTIN, 1841 census
« on: Monday 10 July 06 15:59 BST (UK) »
Not sure if this is too vague, but I'd love any reference to the MARTIN name in Upper Lambourn and or Lambourn, Berks in the 1841 census.

Many thanks, Linda Martin

NecroMancer:

Sorry, had no idea there'd be that many!  When I get back home I'll get the details of exactly who I'm looking for and repost!

Okay I have my original couple of Thomas and Elizabeth MARTIN having children Hannah, Elizabeth, John and James in Lambourn.  John born 1779 married Martha in 1804 (she died 1834), and I've only ever found one child for them - Thomas, my husbands 3 x great grandfather.  Surely there must be more children?  Any male MARTIN's born 1806-1830 in Lambourn?

I do have in John b 1779 in 1841 living with his son Thomas born 1806. John died in September 1851, and Thomas and family have moved to Hampshire by 1851 census time.

I'm also interested in finding James born 1784 in the 1841 census, and also sister Elizabeth born 1777 who married a John WALDRON.

Thank you, Linda

If I've decoded that list OK, it would seem that John b1779 had only Thomas - as I am assuming that the younger children listed are Thomas and Frances family ? ...

in Lambourn itself ... Tythery of Up Lambourn ...

HO107/22/6
Registration district of Hungerford
Sub-registration district of Lambourn
Folio 6

John Martin 61 (assumed HEAD) - AgLab   -Y- to Born in County
Thomas 34 AgLab
Frances 33
John 10
Ann 6
Martha 4

No sign of a 1784 James, and Elizabeth + John Waldron (1777) .... the oldest Waldron is a Stephen 1786 - theres about 11 of em in the Lamborn / Shefford area ranging 1801 to 1830s ...

Many thanks for these.  Yes the younger ones are Thomas and Frances children, John age 10 being my husband's direct descendant.

On having a good look at what I have could I have the details for John b. 1827 with parents Thomas and Eleanor.

Perhaps this Thomas could be an elder brother to my John born 1779, whose parents were Thomas and Elizabeth who married in 1761.
